Teams & Managers

Postby motogeek » Thu Jul 29, 2010 11:25 pm

I may get shot down but this is just my opinion. Over the last few weeks there have been some 'Developments' should we say around people flitting from one team to another and so on, we all know who & what just read the last half dozen Topics on here. I realise people want to get their views across and get annoyed when someone post detrimental things about their teams. Maybe it’s ok for a while but when it goes on and on I feel it is damaging the BSB image. Also this forum is open to anyone & everyone, just have a think if potential sponsors were doing a bit of research and stumbled upon these threads I think they would have serious doubts about putting money into a team that would tarnish their reputation. You don’t see the big guns (Honda - HM Plant, Suzuki - Worx) commenting on here when things aren’t going well, they may put a statement out and that would be the end of the matter, they certainly wouldn’t counter punch each other as their sponsors would not be impressed. Like I say may get shot down in flames but if the few and far between Sponsors dry up BSB will not survive. Let’s get back to exciting close racing, and make BSB more attractive.

I understand what you're saying. You want potential sponsors to come into the sport blind and not realise the pitfalls! Then lose a load of money and go away never to come back. If I was a potential sponsor too damn right I'd do my research, and work out where I'd go. What better place to find out and learn. The actual truth is that most sponsors are already very close to the sport, or the team they want to sponsor, there are not many that come into it blind. What's been revealed on here aint new, it was already general knowledge. Good question though.

Doesn't make great reading for those that think its a great place though. I've had a few of my normal customers (non-bsb) ask me wtf this is all about the last few weeks. Told them i don't know because its easier. But all this bitching i agree isn't doing the sport any favours.

Well possibly your comments about getting grassed up whilst cheating didn't exactly help

I agree, first impressions are very important to any potential sponsors.
I always thought Jamie Robinson ran a great team, even when the budget was n't always there.
He always came across as dedicated and a very professional racer.

Robinson worked very hard for his racing... I note Airwaves now sponsor BMW Touring Cars.. its fragile business for bikes.. so be professional and come up with what you promise...! :D
Trying to have a laugh and failing miserably...
